Hide rich text formatting options in iOS

On selecting text in iOS( in 4S,ios 8), rich text formatting options (B,I,U) are being shown in addition to cut, copy and paste options. Is there a way to remove those options, as they don’t work and are not needed as well ?

I tried to find a way to hide these, but didn’t find one. That doesn’t mean there isn’t one – Safari/Webkit’s non-standard interfaces aren’t well documented. I used contenteditable="plaintext-only" at some point, which did hide these controls, but that caused other problems (pasting rich text causes newlines to be stripped).
